Panhandle Assessment Center
was licensed as a Child Placing Agency in 1991 by the Texas Department of Protective
and Regulatory Services.
When a child is placed in a PAC foster home by the Child Placing Agency,
a structured behavioral program is implemented to meet that child’s
behavioral, emotional, education, medical, social, psychological, and physical
needs. The foster parents strive to set the child up to succeed in various
settings, hoping that the child will learn more appropriate behaviors.
Operations and Services of the Child Placing Agency
The foster parents and PAC child placing staff assist the families with
obtaining resources and services necessary to maintain a safe and nurturing
atmosphere for the child. They also will work with families in teaching parents
how to better understand and meet their child’s special needs.
PAC foster homes are committed to caring for the child for as long as that
home environment is meeting the child’s needs. PAC understands the
importance of consistency and stabilization in the lives of the hurting and
frightened children placed in our care.
Why is such a facility needed?
PAC is willing to provide a long term structured family environment for
the child to heal from the emotional and physical pain they have experienced
in their tortured past. The need for long term foster family placement to
teach the child how to live in a family environment is vital for future healthy
family functioning in our society. PAC homes provide the opportunity for
the child to live in one home until a permanent placement can be found or
that child’s treatment is completed. The aim of PAC’s child placing
agency is to cut down on the number of traumatizing moves in the child’s
life.
